IDDY Award Winner Case Study: NTT Enables SSO to a PC with Strong Authentication Via a Mobile-Phone
Presented by Kenji Takahashi of NTT NTT Labs has developed SASSO, a personal Identity Provider that enables users to single-sign-on to a PC and leverage the strong authentication capabilities of the mobile phone to conduct a wide range of secure identity-based transactions. SASSO uses the increasingly ubiquitous mobile phone as an Identity Provider (IdP) to allow users to access a Service Provider (SP). Once authenticated by their own mobile phone, the IdP on the mobile phone issues a SAML assertion signed by a private key and sends that assertion to SPs. The application drives strong authentication into online transactions and leverages the convenience and privacy capabilities of the mobile phone to allow users to better control their own identity information. • SASSO-webcast-post.pdf 532.62 kB

Webcast: Access to Identity-Enabled Web Services in Cross Border, Inter-Federation ScenariosMature deployers of federated systems—and the smaller organizations with whom they are federating—are more and more facing the challenge of federating with other organizations with whom they don't have a direct business relationship as they expand their federated circles of trust. In doing so, they are able to unlock and access numerous rich identity-based web services that can be used to enhance business offerings, bring ease of use to their customers, and reduce administrative costs. But how can this best be achieved—and can it even be achieved with today's standards? This webcast, presented by the editors of a recently released whitepaper with the same title (http://www.projectliberty.org/index.php/liberty/resource_center/papers) explores different potential options to access identity-based web services in inter-federation scenarios, specifically by using features such as Discovery Service Proxying, Inter-Circle of Trust Discovery, and Direct Access. The webcast will culminate in exploring how these solutions can result in immediately interesting offerings in certain scenarios, such as those associated to roaming situations in the telecommunications industry. Teliasonera will contribute real world use case information about the application of this technology in the marketplace. |

SOA: Protecting the Architecture by Leveraging Standards
With the rapid adoption of SOA, there is an equally prominent pain point around the ability to protect the architecture as a whole. Many of the solutions currently being deployed are focused on protecting web services. However, this addresses only part of the architecture…it does not address the need to enforce policies around non-web services, the ESB, etc., and doesn’t even begin to address the proactive opportunity of enabling single sign on across the architecture in a heterogenous environment or acknowledge the roll identity has to play in the overall solution. |
