Roger K. Sullivan – President: Vice President of Oracle Identity Management

Roger K. Sullivan serves as president of the Liberty Alliance Management Board and is Vice President of Oracle Identity Management. Most of his time is spent with Oracle’s premier customers, assisting them in understanding the business value of identity management and helping them evaluate and implement Oracle technology.

Roger was President and CEO of Phaos Technology Corp. prior to its acquisition by Oracle. He led Phaos into its well-recognized leadership position as a premier provider of security software for federated identity management. He was previously chief marketing officer for Zions Bancorporation eBusiness Group where he was responsible for five business units: Lexign, Phaos, NetDeposit, EnterVault and DST.

Roger previously held key senior management positions at icomXpress (Lexign) including head of marketing, engineering, and professional services until Zions Bancorporation acquired the company in 2001. Prior to that, Roger was vice president for BIS Strategic Decisions’ system consulting and Continuous Information Services. And, he was worldwide director and program manager for Wang Labs’ imaging products.

Roger is widely recognized as a leading authority on security, document and work process technologies. Roger holds a B.S. from Northern Illinois University and has conducted graduate studies in information management at Boston University. He served as a Top Secret Security Control Officer for the U.S. Army Security Agency.

Roger Martin – Treasurer: Director of Standards, AOL

Roger Martin serves as treasurer on the Liberty Alliance Management Board and is Director of Standards at AOL. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the ISTO and serves on its Finance Committee.

Prior to joining AOL in September 2002, Roger was the manager of Corporate Standards Strategy for Sun Microsystems for the previous 6 years.

Roger began his career with the Federal government in 1971 with the Naval Ship Research and Development Center. He moved to the Office of Management and Budget in the Executive Office of the President in 1976 before joining the National Bureau of Standards (now NIST) in 1982 where he held a number of positions including Chief of the Systems and Software Technology Division.

Roger has been active in voluntary standardization work at the IT industry, national, and international levels for the past 30 years. He has chaired several key POSIX and Software Engineering technical committees in the IEEE and ISO/IEC JTC1 and has received numerous public awards for his work. Roger has been on the Board of Directors of several standards consortia including The Open Group (previously X/Open) and the Object Management Group. His technical background includes software engineering, reliable systems, and open system environments and technologies.

Roger holds a B.S. and M.S. in computer science from Iowa State University.

Bill Smith – Secretary: Sr. Director, Business Strategy in the CTO Office, Sun Microsystems

Bill Smith is Senior Director, Business Strategy in the CTO Office at Sun Microsystems. He represents Sun on the Management Board at the Liberty Alliance Project and serves as that organization’s secretary. Bill is a past president of OASIS, an industry consortium that advocates structured information standards like XML. In that capacity, he served on the Executive Committee of ebXML, the joint OASIS/United Nations Electronic Business initiative. Prior to joining Sun in 1996 he was the director of Research and Development at Electronic Book Technologies. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer science, both from Brown University.
