Liberty Alliance – September 13, 2006 — Liberty Alliance, the global identity consortium working to build a more trusted Internet for consumers, governments and businesses worldwide, today announced that the T-Online Netzausweis has been awarded the 2006 IDDY (Identity Deployment of the Year) Award for excellence in digital identity management. Liberty Alliance presents the IDDY Award annually to recognize outstanding digital identity management deployments based on the proven interoperable and privacy-respecting Liberty Federation and Liberty Web services specifications. The T-Online “Netzausweis” (English: Net ID Card) was launched in 2005 to bring the benefits of federated identity management to its customers and partners. The Liberty-enabled federated system provides consumers with easy, secure and privacy-respecting access to applications and services and partners with new opportunities for reducing costs and increasing revenues. The federated system currently supports nearly 12 million customers in Germany and over 200 products in the telecom internet service provider sector, including gaming, Web-hosting, IP-TV and IP-telephony.
