NZ SAMS – the New Zealand Security Assertion Messaging Standard – is the first of a suite of deployment profiles of international data standards, intended to support the New Zealand Government’s All-of-government Authentication Programme. This presentation walks attendees through a review of the development process to provide insights for others planning a similar exercise.
The New Zealand Government intends to deploy OASIS SAML v2.0 in its All-of-government Authentication Programme and other e-initiatives promoted by government agencies. This presentation begins with a high level overview of the Programme’s design, reflecting privacy policy and architectural decisions. The overview provides the audience with a backdrop for the rationale in developing deployment profiles of internationl standards and a springboard to walk attendees through the approach taken. The presentation will highlight the roles of the standards bodies, vendors and government agencies, finishing with an insight on work remaining to be done and the key considerations for others planning a similar exercise.
